Helicopters take off near the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on April 12, 1975, during Operation Eagle Pull. The evacuation of Americans marked the end of U.S. involvement in the conflict. Evacuees were flown to a waiting ship in the Gulf of Siam (now known as the Gulf of Thailand).
