Jon Swain and Roland Neveu pose with a local Khmer Rouge commander near the Thai-Cambodian border south of Aranyaprathet. In Neveu's words, "In fact, they were arresting us for trespassing on their territory without specific permission. This was a border zone where the Khmer Rouge were smuggling weapons and ammunition from Thailand towards their base in Phnom Malai. On that day we had followed a group carrying supplies on foot. The local commander was not so happy to see us! But with smiles and cigarettes, we got out."
